Prendergast Sixth Formers shine at the European Youth Debating Competition

At the end of September, Y13s Rachel Kale and Cecily Ward travelled to Berlin to represent the UK in the European Youth Debating Competition (EYDC). The topic debated was "People, Profit, Plant in the digital age; with or without petrochemistry and plastics" and was part of the 51st Annual Conference of the European Petrochemistry Association (EPCA). The twenty four EYDC participants were from Germany, Catalonia (Spain), Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, France and the UK. Both students did extremely well with Cecily coming 10th overall in the competition, the highest placing of all UK participants.  The top 10 winners appear in the picture below with Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General to United Nations, who spoke at the closing lunch for the conference. A huge well done to both students for being such fantastic ambassadors not just for Prendergast but for the UK as a whole!
