Exam Results 2011
We are thrilled with our results again this year. 100% of our students passed at A2 with every student who had applied to university or higher education gaining a place. At GCSE we matched our highest ever results - 71% of our students gained 5+ A*-C with English and Maths and 83% 5+ A-C. 61% of our grades were A*/A or B. Congratulations to all students and staff.

Dear Visitor

Welcome to our web site. I hope that you can find all the information you need but I thought it might be useful to have an introduction from the Head Teacher.

Prendergast Hilly Fields College is an 11-18 girls’ school with a co-educational 6th form. We have four forms of entry into years 7 -11 and pride ourselves on knowing each student individually. Our results are outstanding at GCSE and A level and there is an expectation from year 7 that our girls will achieve highly and stay on to the 6th form. Once in the 6th form there is a similar expectation that students will continue to reach their potential and gain places at universities. We were founded in 1890 as Prendergast Grammar Schools for Girls.

Our entrance criteria are in the prospectus, we are non selective but do offer 10% of places in year 7 to students with particular aptitude in music. We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities and expect all students to attend annual school journeys in years 7-9 – these help students to develop a positive approach to achievement and relationships.

Relationships between staff and students are excellent and girls do achieve their potential. Our expectations are very clear; I do not expect staff to waste valuable teaching time on dealing with behaviour, so students who do not behave properly are taken from class and families contacted. We are very proud that our Ofsted judgement was outstanding in all areas and we were described in the report as exceptional. Please do take the time to read through our prospectus – either for year 7 or year 12.

Dear Parents and Guardians

Welcome to the summer term, the extra public holidays are lovely but have put pressure on students and staff with exams looming. I was pleased that so many students came to our Revision classes, we ran the most we have ever done and I would like to thank staff for giving up their holiday time and Saturdays to run these classes. The school is open on Saturday 28th April for revision classes and then all Saturday mornings except for the bank holiday weekend from 9-12am. Students are welcome to come on their own or in groups to do self-organised revision.

As well as exams there are a number of important events this term:

  • Year 11 have their last day of normal timetable on 11th May and their celebration evening is on 17th May.
  • For all year 11 and 12 there are targeted lesson right up to their exams, they may also come in and study in designated rooms at all times.
  • Year 12 return to school after their exams on June 12th. They will have a mixture of A2 lessons and university preparation events including a visit to Queen Mary’s College on 14th June and a Higher Education even on the 29th both of these should be attended by all year 12 students whatever their plans.
  • Year 12 work experience starts on the 2nd July for 2 weeks.
  • Year 13 study leave begins on 25th May with their graduation on the morning of June 29th and their ball in the evening. Again they may come in for self study at any time.
  • Founders Day for all students is 12th July meeting at 6.15pm

Best Wishes and Good Luck to all doing exams.
