School Uniform and Equipment

Students at Prendergast School are expected to follow the uniform code at all times.

Items of regulation style must be obtained from the school suppliers mentioned above. Please note, prices may vary at times between the two suppliers. Other non-regulation items may be purchased from general suppliers listed in the Uniform Policy.

All uniform must be labelled with the student’s name.

School Uniform (Years 7 - 11)

Prendergast School Uniform List
Shirt/Blouse	Plain white long sleeve or short sleeve shirt worn with a school tie
Trousers/Skirt/Shorts	Navy blue regulation school trousers or Navy blue regulation school knee-length skirt (this may be a straight skirt or a permanent/box pleated school skirt) or  Navy blue regulation school shorts (these may be worn in the Summer term only)
Branded School Jumper (optional)	Navy blue V-neck school jumper with white bands
Branded Blazer	Prendergast School blazer with school badge on the breast pocket
Shoes	Plain brown, black or navy low-heeled shoes. (Ballet pumps and the like are not suitable nor are trainers/plimsolls and other canvas shoes.) Students are not allowed to wear trainers, Converse, or boots to school.  Students are not allowed KicKers Hi hightop/boots, nor Dr Martens boots, or similar designs.
Socks	White, black or navy socks or plain black, navy or flesh tone tights must be worn throughout the year. Socks should not be worn over tights.
Tie	School tie (clip on only)
Bag	You must have a bag that is large enough and strong enough to carry your books and your outside coat if required.
Coat	Outdoor coats, that must be PLAIN dark navy blue or black, not denim and no other colour, should be worn to and from school. (Coats should not have logos on them.)
Jewellery	One small single stud or sleeper in each ear lobe One wristwatch - no smart watches No other jewellery or facial piercing is allowed
Make-Up and Nails	Make-up should not be worn False nails, acrylic or gel nails are not permitted False eyelashes are not permitted

Prendergast School takes pride in the appearance of its students.

• All students in Years 7 to 11 are expected to wear the uniform in the correct manner
• Skirts must be knee length
• Shirts must be tucked into the skirt/trousers/shorts and worn with a tie
• Pullovers/jumpers should not be tucked into skirt/trousers
• No bandanas or hair bonnets to be worn
• No socks to be worn over tights or socks of different colours

Students must always wear their lanyard and school ID pass.

Equipment List

All students need to have the following items with them at school every day, along with their notebook.

Students should bring a clear/transparent water bottle marked with their name and tutor group.

Essential

• A waterproof, durable rucksack bag for carrying books and equipment, large enough to hold A4 folders and keep all books and equipment dry

• A pencil case

• At least two blue or black pen

• A green and a red pen

• A white board marker pen

• A scientific calculator - Casio fx-83GT CW

• A plastic ruler, marked in cm and mm

• A pencil

• An eraser

• A protractor

• A pair of (rounded-point) school scissors

Desirable

• A metal pencil sharpener

• A glue stick or similar

• A highlighter pen

• A variety of coloured pens and/or pencils

Prendergast School reminds students about some important equipment rules which are for the safety of every student.

• Students must not bring plastic pencil sharpeners to school; please ensure your child's sharpener is metal.
• Students must not bring a pair of compasses to school; the school will provide these in lessons that require it (such as Maths or Science) and collect in at the end of the lesson.
• Students may only bring a pair of rounded-point school scissors
• Refillable water bottles must be clear/transparent plastic only (but may be any clear colour as long as the bottle is transparent); not disposable plastic bottles; no metal or opaque water bottles; glass bottles are not permitted. As well as for safety, this is an important rule for exams and assessments, as opaque bottles must not be brought into exam halls or into class for assessments.

Any equipment items that are not permitted may be confiscated at any time and behaviour rules may apply.
