Health & Social Care

At Prendergast School, our Health and Social Care curriculum ensures students develop as effective and independent learners who understand the aspects of personal development as well as the health, social care and early years sectors.  They develop a critical and analytical approach to problem solving within the health, social care and early years sectors and examine issues that affect the nature and quality of human life.

Our curriculum aims to develop the knowledge and understanding, as well as the practical and personal skills, required to work in health, social care or childcare services.  Students also learn how to deliver person-centred care and support to meet the needs of a variety of services users.

Through the Health and Social Care curriculum, students develop the knowledge and understanding of the values of care in health, social care and childcare services and understand and use key terms in both discussions and written work.
