Erasmus Amsterdam 2018

In April, three Year 12 students embarked on a week long journey to Amsterdam along with 45 other students from around Europe as a part of the European Union Erasmus Plus project that Prendergast is a part of this year.

All of us stayed with students the same age as us from the Netherlands which was a really exciting chance to fully immerse ourselves in the culture of the country for a week and fully experience the city. We took part in various activities related to this year’s theme of Peace and Democracy, such as a workshop from Amnesty International and visiting the Town Hall of Amsterdam. In the afternoons we toured all the classic tourist attractions of the city; the Anne Frank House, The Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum.

Overall it was an incredible experience! The best part was getting to meet so many new people and learning about their different cultures and backgrounds, as well as making friends for life, although it was definitely intimidating to be one of three people in a room of fifty that could only speak one language!
